Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair

Come and visit our booth at the County Fair at Vidinha Stadium in Līhu‘e! We will have native plants for sale, as well as membership registrations, T-shirts, educational materials and other goodies. If you are interested in either selling native plants, other native plant products, or helping at our booth during the fair, please contact us.

SEPTEMBER 2010

“Hands-On Project” - Native plant garden at CTAHR (Phase II)

Date:  September 25

8:30 am to 2:30 pm

Please join us as we finish up the last of the native forest plants garden with a rock edging, markings, and re-planting.

Bring: Plenty of water,  a lunch, gloves, hats, work clothes (shorts okay), closed toe shoes, your favorite gardening implement, shovels.

OCTOBER 2010

Member Enrichment Activity: Miloli`i Ridge Road guided hike

Date:  October 16

8:30 am to 2:00 pm

We will be meeting at Puhinahina Lookout and carpooling to the Miloli`i Ridge Road gate. Our guided hike will be going through a great example of Mesic forest and you will be able to see examples of native plants. No collections, please.  This is a hunting area, so be safe and wear bright orange! This hike will be approximately 3 miles round trip. On a scale of 5 (being extreme), this hike will be around a 2 in difficulty. Road may be slippery, so wear appropriate footwear.

Bring: Snacks, lunch, water, camera, sunscreen, friends!

Arbor Day Event

Date: November 6

9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Come and visit our table at the annual Arbor Day Event being held at Kukui Grove behind Kmart. Over 1,900 plants will be given away, including plenty of native plants! Want to volunteer? Just let us know!

“Hands-On Project” - Native plant garden at CTAHR– Economic Plants (Phase I)

We will embark on another special garden at the CTAHR location: a native plant garden filled with plants of economic importance from pre-contact (with Europeans) and post contact times.

Education: Native Plant Propagation Class

Date TBA

Kaua`i Community College, Puhi, Kaua`i

Learn to grow native plants using cuttings and seeds. All materials will be provided with a nominal class fee.  Bring home your very own start and help KNPS prepare flats of native plant starts for a future plant sale.

“Hands-On Project” - Kanuikapono Learning Center

Please join us as we work around Kanuikapono’s native plant nursery.
